Welcome to Just Win Minnesota 2.0
In case you’re unfamiliar, I launched Just Win Minnesota around a year ago focusing on selling apparel for tortured Minnesota sports fans. I am still doing that- in fact you can click the “shop” link above and it will take you to our shop site where all of that apparel is still available, but I re-created Just Win Minnesota to improve our ability to create and share content for Minnesota sports fans.
When I launched Just Win Minnesota, I didn’t have a ton of money to just go out and blast our brand into the faces of every Minnesota sports fan out there. So in thinking of how I could spread the JustWinMN brand with little money, naturally I landed on social media as an efficient avenue to create some awareness.
I made a TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram page for Just Win Minnesota and started making videos wearing my shirts in hopes that people would notice them (I also made an X account but that has been a struggle to say the least. I feel I am so busy that I just do not think to tweet. But give me a courtesy follow at @BenJustWinMN). I have made all sorts of videos- I made a “Typical Minnesota Sports” series where I re-visited some of Minnesota’s most heartbreaking sports moments. I make commentary videos providing my thoughts on various Minnesota sports topics. And occasionally I’ll make (often bad) skit videos in an attempt to create some laughs.
I’ve learned a couple things making those videos- one is that I actually enjoy making them. If you would have told me a couple of years ago that I would be making TikToks and Instagram Reels, I would have said that there was absolutely 0% chance of that ever happening. But I’ve enjoyed creating discussion, getting reactions from viewers, and having debates in the comments.
But I’ve also learned that I’m not half bad at it either. I feel like I’m growing an audience and a lot of people really connect with the videos I make. Probably because I make videos for people just like me- a sad and desperate Minnesota sports fan. And no, I haven’t become some viral sensation, but in less than a year I’ve grown my TikTok to over 2k followers, and my Instagram and Facebook accounts have over 1k followers each.
So I’m trying my hand at blogging. Most of my blogs will be Minnesota sports related. Some will be just general Minnesota related. Some will be brain dumps of the random thoughts I have. It could be literally anything, which I think will add some fun to it.
I want Just Win Minnesota to be more than a brand or a company. I want it to be a community. A place where Minnesotans can go and get a fan’s perspective on the current happenings of our sports teams. No, we are not going to be analysts. I’m not going to break down the Vikings all-22 or draw up a new power play for the Wild. Because I am not qualified to do that. But we’ll provide opinions, vent, and try to write content that will have you shaking your head one way or the other, and maybe even get a laugh out of you.
